Tragedy was averted on Sunday as a family of six narrowly escaped death after the Mercedes Benz 190 car they were about to travel in, suddenly caught fire in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The inferno occurred after an unnamed substance allegedly dropped from under the car.
On noticing the fire, the owner of the vehicle swiftly rushed to rescue his children who were seated at the back seat.
Residents at Ogwa Street in the Diobu area of the state capital, where the incident happened, rushed to their rescue as they mobilized youths who put out the fire.
Although no life was lost in the inferno, the father was said to have sustained injuries.
