At least four persons have been confirmed dead after two passenger trains collided in southern Germany, this morning, February 9, 2016.

About a 100 people were injured, of whom 15 were left in a critical condition and 40 seriously hurt.

The crash occurred near Bad Aibling, a spa town about 60km south-east of Munich.

According to German media, one of the trains was derailed in the crash and several carriages were overturned.

‘We are now talking about 100 people who are slightly injured, a number of seriously injured people and several dead,’ police spokesman Martin Winkler in the southern town of Rosenheim said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately clear.
