Massive injury blow for Man United ahead of crucial Champions League tie - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Manchester United have been dealt a massive injury blow ahead of the their Champions league clash against CSKA Moscow.
Louis Van Gaal could be without the services of star midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin who is a doubt for tomorrow’s game. The French defensive midfielder missed today’s training session.
Although the details of the injury are yet to be revealed, his absence from the Manchester United’s training session is concerning.
The former Southampton midfielder has been a big hit with the fans since his move to Old Trafford in the summer. Despite a slow start Schneiderlin has won over the fans with his determined and defensively solid displays.
Alongside Carrick and Schweinsteiger, the Frenchman has been the defensive shield for the Manchester United midfield. Timely interceptions and breaking up the play has been a key feature of his game so far.
Manchester United need a win against the Russians after a defeat against PSV and a draw against CSKA in the reverse fixture.
The likes of Memphis Depay and Antonio Valencia are doubtful for the CSKA clash and Schneiderlin’s absence could pile further misery on Van Gaal, who is hoping for some redemption in front of the home fans.
Manchester United have not won any of their last four matches (in all competitions) and the Dutchman is under severe pressure to turn it around.
