Woman whose boyfriend broke her eye socket and jaw takes him back

Woman whose boyfriend broke her eye socket and jaw takes him back

A girl who had her jaw, nose and eye socket broken by her violent boyfriend is back with him despite him being locked up for five years.
24 year old Kyle Illingworth attacked Livvy Heppell after she refused to return his mobile phone.
He punched and stomped on her face during the sickening attack, before fleeing the scene.

A court heard Illingworth battered Livvy on April 17 when he turned up at a house in Ascot Way and flew into a drink and drug-fuelled rage when she refused to give him his mobile phone back.
He broke his girlfriend's jaw, nose and eye socket and left her needing a lengthy stay in an Intensive Care Unit.
The couple have since got back together. Judge Stephen Ashurst, the recorder of York, described the frenzied attack as "one of the worst examples" of grievous bodily harm he had seen.
The attack sparked a six-day manhunt for Illingworth as he fled the scene soon after the incident, leaving his partner's friend to call 999.
When he realised the police were looking for him, he called the friend and told her "you're next" because he blamed her for police linking him to the crime.

Judge Ashurst told him: "You are still only 24 years old and have an extremely bad record of offending.
"However the argument between you and your girlfriend started, however much you had been drinking or she had been drinking, you completely lost any self control.
"The photographs of her while she was in hospital, having been taken there from York to Leeds, are extremely disturbing.
"She was in intensive care and had to have plates fixed in her jaw to repair the damage, and from reading the evidence she had done nothing to justify that kind of pounding."
Illingworth was jailed for five years after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm and will serve three years and nine months in custody and the remaining 15 months on licence..

Meet 14 yr old boy who suffers from rare genetic disorder that has killed five of his siblings

Meet 14 yr old boy who suffers from rare genetic disorder that has killed five of his siblings

A 14-year-old boy has been left with the body of a 110-year-old in India because he has a rare disease which makes him age eight times faster than normal.
Ali Hussain has seen five of his siblings die from the same condition called Progeria which is known to affect just 80 people worldwide.
Two of his brothers and three of his sisters have died from the disease in Bihar, the poorest state in India.

Ali’s parents Nabi Hussain Khan, 50, and Razia, 46, are first cousins and were the product of an arranged marriage 32 years ago. When they were 18 and 14 years old respectively.

Progeria causes rapid ageing and sufferers of the genetic disease are prone to arthritis, eye problems, heart disease and baldness.
Sufferers are not expected to live much beyond the age of 14 - but despite the grim prognosis Ali has refused to give up hope.
‘I very much want to live and I hope there is medicine for my condition out there. I’m not scared of death but my parents have suffered a lot,' he said.
'I’d love to live much longer for them. I don’t want to burden them with any more pain.’
Their children Rehana, Iqramul, Gudiya and Rubina have all died from Progeria between the ages of 12 and 24.
A fifth child, a boy who died within 24 hours of being born, is also thought to have had the rare condition.
Nabia and Razia, who have had eight children in total, do have two healthy daughters - Sanjeeda, 20, who is married with two children of her own. Their youngest daughter Chanda, 10, also does not have Progeria.
When their first daughter, Rehana, was born in 1983 they had no idea anything was wrong at first. It was only after her second birthday when she couldn’t eat or walk properly did they visit a doctor.
But the doctor was baffled and he sent them home with some medicines. Progeria was so rare and poorly documented that most doctors had never heard of it.
Sanjeeda is the one in red who is now 20 and married
Nabi Hussain Khan, 50, and his wife Razia, 46, have had eight children and six of them have suffered from Progeria.
Their first child was Rehana, a girl born in 1983 who died from Progeria in 2007 aged 24
Their second child Iqramul was born in 1987 and died in 2009, from Progeria aged 22
Progeria sufferer Gudiya, born in 1989, died in 2004 aged 15
Progeria sufferer Rubina, born in 1992 and died in 2004 aged 12
Sanjeeda, who is now 20, was born without the killer disease and is now married with two healthy children of her own
Progeria sufferer Ali was born in 1999 and is 14
The couple had an unnamed son who died within 24 hours of being born. They claim that he was also killer by Progeria
Their youngest daughter Chanda, aged 10 is also healthy.

Maj. Hamza al-Mustapha compulsorily retired from the Army

Maj. Hamza al-Mustapha compulsorily retired from the Army

Former Chief Security Officer to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Maj. Hamza al-Mustapha, has been compulsorily retired from the Army.
His compulsory retirement, according to a military source, was due to his absence in the Army for a period of over 14 years, while he was away to face the trial over the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, a wife of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief M.K.O. Abiola.

On Wednesday, Punch sighted a copy of the retirement letter sent to Al-Mustapha from the Army Headquarters which stated that the Army Council took the decision to force him out of service at its meeting held on August 5, 2013, more than a year after the Court of Appeal acquitted him.

The retirement letter had the date of July 14, 2014 and it put the period the former Head of State’s CSO was in the army at 33 years and 11 days.

According to the letter, the reason for his compulsory retirement was, “undeployability arising from restructuring and/or lack of establishment,”.
However, the letter commended him for demonstrating “good conduct in the discharge of your duties” throughout his service in the army.
The letter partly read:“You are authorised to retain your substantive rank of Major. You are also entitled to gratuity and pension as well as Certificate of Military Service and Retired Officers’ Identity Card.
“You are entitled to your ceremonial dress, service dress and mess kit. However, you should wear uniforms corresponding to your rank at the time of retirement only when you are invited for military ceremonies; military weddings; memorial services of National Day celebration and Regimental dinners.”
Following Abacha’s death on June 8, 1998, Al-Mustapha was arrested in October of the same year for the murder of Kudirat, he was subsequently sentenced to death for Kudirat’s murder by a Lagos High Court in Igbosere on January 30, 2012, but was released and acquitted on July 12, 2013  by a superior judgment of the Court of Appeal in Lagos.

Mom arrested for trying to shame her 10 year old son for making anti gay remarks

Mom arrested for trying to shame her 10 year old son for making anti gay remarks

A mother who chose an unusual way to punish her son for making anti-gay remarks has been turned over to South Carolina social services.
The Herald Online reports that the mother had tried other means of punishment with her son, but they just didn’t work

“The mother said she was ‘punishing her son for fighting and making homophobic remarks in school,’ the report states. She added that he has been having behavioral issues, and “corporal punishment has been ineffective, so she was attempting to embarrass” her son as punishment.”
After her son's anti-gay remarks the mother shaved her son’s head, wrote the word “bad” on his forehead, put a wig on him, dressed him in a “women’s teddy,” tutu and boots, and then paraded him around Walmart to teach him a lesson on how not to mock gays.

Customers at Walmart saw what was going on and called the Police.

Rock Hill Police Department Captain Mark Bollinger said that customers in the Walmart “saw the family come through and thought the situation was ‘strange'”:
“Apparently what the child said about ‘gay children’ was inappropriate. We’re in the south and that shakes the conscience of people around here.”
The police report does not include the offensive remarks the young child allegedly said at home or school, but Captain Bollinger said the officer who responded told the mother her punishment was “inappropriate” and called family services.

Captain Bollinger also said that the child was “young,” and the police report states that he is ten-years-old.
Speaking as a former child abuse investigator, Bollinger said even though the Mum was arrested, it’s unlikely the she will face charges, but she may be ordered to undergo parenting classes.

Woman shoots at thief as he runs from store

Woman shoots at thief as he runs from store

A woman in suburban Detroit opened fire on a shoplifter after seeing a security guard chase him out of a Home Depot store, police said.
The shoplifter in Tuesday's Home Depot incident was not injured, the Detroit Free Press said.
It was not clear if the woman, who has a license to carry a concealed weapon, would face any charges for taking the law into her own hands.

The 48 year old woman, was in the parking lot when she saw a security guard chase a black man in his 40s out of the store. The man jumped into a waiting sports utility vehicle and the woman opened fire when it began to pull away. Police believe she shot out one of the tires.
The Auburn Hills police published some details on Twitter.
It noted that "business was not disrupted" and asked for the public's help in locating the "getaway" car.
The incident comes just a few weeks after a bank customer in a neighboring Detroit suburb shot a robber as he was fleeing the scene.
The local mayor said the 63-year-old man, who also had a license to carry a weapon, acted within his rights because the robber threatened him on his way out the door.
The robber, 43, was treated in hospital after being shot once in each arm and once in a leg.
"I'm happy that no one was seriously injured," Jim Fouts, the mayor of Warren, Michigan, told the Detroit Free Press at the time. "He apparently exercised some caution by not shooting the robber in a vital area."
