THE HEADIES is back for the 2016 Edition of her annual award ceremony. The accolade established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievement in the country's entertainment industry.
2015 Edition of the award ended in a controversial manner as two of the industry giant records owner; Don Jazzy and Olamide, come after each other with the latter creating a destructive scene at the event arena. The organizers of the event have released the full nominees for the 2016 edition and one noticeable error here seems to be on the Next Rated act, the very category that caused the buzz in last edition of the award. It seems the organizers decided to exclude the name of the two act that lead to the chaos; Lil Kesh and Reekado Banks, not minding the fact that both star released their debut album this year and each of their album; "Y.A.G.I" and "Spotlight" respectively, are doing great as regard airplay.
Notable Nominees for the awards 21-categories include Olamide, Ycee, Wizkid, Kiss Daniel, Aramide, Darey, Adekunle Gold, D'Banj, Brymo, Phyno, Simi, Seyi Shay, among others.
Star absentee on the nomination list is the DMW honcho, Davido. The OBO Junior is definitely having a bad year as he has so far received zero nomination in any of the award this year.
Another major absentees is the Mavin Family with Tiwa savage being the only nominee from the Dynasty. She received only one nomination, "Artist Of The Year" which is non-excludable for her. The likes of Don Jazzy, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello, Dr. SID, Iyanya, Di'Ja and D'Prince are no where near the list.
Are you sure HEADIES is not that controversial they said it is. Does it mean that non of the singles or debut album by Reeky could make the list, what about Dr. SID and Korede Bello.
