Chelsea are looking to seal their first January transfer with the signing of Shakhtar midfielder Alex Texeira.
The Brazilian attacking midfielder has confirmed earlier that he is in talks with Chelsea and now Independent are claiming that the Ukrainian club have addressed the rumours and their manager has confirmed that the player’s availability and price.
Alex is now worth more than €40m,” said Lucescu.
“I think at the end of the season, were he to continue his performance, his value is €50m [£36.3m].
“If he were playing in a more competitive league, his transfer would be at the same level as that of Di Maria”.
The Shakhtar star has scored 22 goals this season and has attracted a lot of interest from the likes of Chelsea, PSG and Juventus.
However, Texeira is keen on a move to England and Chelsea appear to be the only English club after him.
Texeira could be an impressive addition to Chelsea’s attack and would provide an instant improvement on the likes of Pedro and Oscar.
Although Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that he will not look to sign any new players in January, Chelsea’s discussions with Shakhtar and the player tells a very different story.
It will be interesting to see if Chelsea follow up with a formal bid for the Brazilian in January.
