Respected professor and former
presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress party,
Professor Pat Utomi, has thrown his weight behind the ambitions of the
APC governorship candidate for Kaduna state, Nasir El-rufai.
Utomi, who is the founder of Centre
for Values in leadership (CVL) said El-rufai is the kind of leader that
can implement good policies. He called on the people of Kaduna to
support the former FCT minister.
Utomi was speaking as guest lecturer at the el-Rufai Support Group Interactive Dinner which held in Kaduna last weekend.
Also speaking at the event, El-rufai
told the guests that Kaduna is the second most indebted state in the
country. He lamented that the state generates very little internally
generated revenue.
He said he will prioritise education and
healthcare. All children in the state will be entitled to free and
compulsory education for the first nine years in properly maintained
schools and with qualified teachers.
He further disclosed that there are less
than 200 doctors in the entire state, indicating a shortage of medical
personnel. He said an APC government would recruit more healthcare
personnel into hospitals that will have better equipment and more
medicines.
El-Rufai said that reviving the textiles
industry requires regular electricity, forward integration into
garmenting and the cooperation of the Federal Government. Hence he said
that it is important that General Muhammadu Buhari is voted as president
so that a clear-headed Federal Government can work with the state to
achieve a revival of the industry.
El-Rufai called on the professionals to
actively participate in politics because even if they choose to ignore
politics, politics will not ignore them given that political choices and
decisions have consequences that impact everyone.
Pat Utomi endorses El-rufai for Kaduna governor as the APC candidate speaks on his priorities
