“Are we not working for the same goal?”: Bayelsa TAN is wondering why Gov. Dickson wants them to leave

Following the complaint by the Bayelsa governor, Seriake Dickson, that the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) in Bayelsa State is being used to destabilise the state, the group has responded in “shock and disbelief”.
They wondered why the governor would want them to leave Bayelsa state when they were all working for the same goal of achieving at Governor Henry Seriake Dickson’s statement that TAN and other such groups should leave the state.
TAN, in a statement signed by its Director of Publicity, Chief Nathan Egba, said it could not understand how an elected governor would make such a statement in a democratic setting.
“There is nowhere in the constitution that gives any governor such powers. TAN in Bayelsa is, however, aware of plots by some over-zealous government officials to portray groups such as TAN, Women for Change Initiative, and others in bad light. These officials make it appear as if all these groups are against the state government.”
The organisation asked its members and supporters to remain focused on ensuring the president is reelected.
