Everyone had a lot to say about Iggy Azalea over the weekend, now Iggy is ready to speak for herself. In a sassy display of self-confidence, the Australian pop rap star wrote a string of tweets that made clear to her critics she is no idiot and doesn’t need a lesson in hip hop from anyone.
Though Iggy never specified who she was talking to directly, one message seemed to be a clear response toQ-Tip for offering her a hip hop history lesson in his own series of tweets this weekend.
“i find it patronizing to assume i have no knowledge of something I'm influenced by, but I've also grown up with strangers assuming that,” she wrote. “so its completely fine and I'm used to it by now. i don't lose any sleep over it.”
As she has stated before, the “Fancy” rapper will continue to go unfazed by the “already cemented opinion” of her. Instead she thanked those who are “interested in me and enjoy my music.” She also sent a tweet thanking Lupe Fiasco and will.i.am, for coming to her defense during a turbulent weekend, which saw her battle nemesis Azealia Banks and field a threat from hacker group Anonymous.
“Thanks lupe and will iam what you guys said was really nice and i appreciate it.”
In wrapping up her response, Iggy asked that those trolling her Twitter account give it a break as she is done addressing the controversy and getting ready to celebrate the holidays.
“now, if you guys don't mind... I'm on my christmas break enjoying it with people i actually KNOW.... in REAL life. you should do the same.”
