Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is open to the idea of joining Premier League giants Manchester United or Manchester City in the summer.

According to reports in Spain (via Goal), the Chilean winger will consider a move away from Arsenal if a suitable offer comes in at the end of this season.

The report also claims that Sanchez is keen to work with Pep Guardiola again and the former Barcelona boss has been linked with the Manchester clubs.

Earlier in November, the Sanchez to Manchester United story was reported and it was claimed that Louis Van Gaal is an admirer of the Arsenal star and has spoken to him about a transfer.

Furthermore, the report also stated that Van Gaal promised the player that he will build the United side around him.

Even if we assume that the Old Trafford outfit are interested in the player and he is considering a move, it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will sell one of their best players to a title rival.

Arsene Wenger and Arsenal have witnessed the difference Van Persie made at Manchester United and will surely want to avoid that mistake again.

The Chilean has made a major impact since joining Arsenal from Barcelona and has scored 34 goals for the Gunners so far.

The former Barcelona winger has been the best player at the club over two seasons and is being tipped to sign a new deal at Emirates soon.

Chelsea to sign star before Arsenal game, agent in London and terms agreed

Chelsea are all set to complete the signing of Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato this week.

The 26-year-old striker has been in outstanding form for Sao Paulo and is keen on a move to Europe this month.

Pato has been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, but it appears that the highly talented South American is on his way to Stamford Bridge.

According to the London Evening Standard, Chelsea players believe that the Premier League champions will seal the signing of Pato this week before the Arsenal game.

Injuries to Diego Costa and Radamel Falcao have left Chelsea with just one fit striker and the Blues are keen to add more quality and depth in that department. The only fit striker Loic Remy has hardly played this season and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Pato was once regarded as one of the finest young forwards in the game, but injuries stalled his development at AC Milan and he was forced to return home with Corinthians.

However, the striker failed to fit in at Corinthians and was then loaned out to Sao Paulo, where he managed to recapture his old form.

The striker has been injury free over the last two seasons and managed to rack up 26 goals last season.

Corinthians are desperate to sell the 26-year-old this month for around £11 million and Chelsea are more than happy to oblige after Costa got injured during the Everton game on the weekend.

Although Costa’s injury is not serious, the Spanish striker is a major doubt for Sunday’s derby against Arsenal.

Earlier we reported that Pato has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea and a move should be confirmed soon. Also, the Brazilian media claimed that Pato’s agent is in London to meet with the Blues and finalise a January move.

London Evening Standard’s report further backs up the claims from Brazil.

Chelsea are in desperate need of a striker and signing Pato would be an intelligent addition to Guus Hiddink’s side. The Blues have struggled in front of the goal so far with Diego Costa failing to recapture his form from last season.

The Spanish international bagged 21 goals in 37 games last season but has only managed 8 goals in 25 appearances so far this term.

Wenger provides injury update on Arsenal star duo for Chelsea clash

Arsene Wenger has revealed that the star duo of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will return from injury when the Gunners face cross town rivals Chelsea in the league tie next weekend.

The German international missed the north London club’s 0-0 draw to Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday due to a foot injury while Sanchez last featured for the Emirates club in November and since then has been on the sidelines.

The two star players have been vital for Arsenal’s title challenge this season and will return for the clash against the Premier League champions. Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck have also been in the club’s treatment room all season and the manager suggested they are closing in on returning to the training ground as well.

“I hope Ozil and Sanchez [will be back for Chelsea]. I believe that next week we will have some players back and slowly some other players are one or two weeks away so in a few months we should have a big part of our injured players back,” Wenger told Sky Sports.

“There is no team in the world that does not miss Mesut Ozil and that is of course used to having him there and giving the final ball but I must say give without Mesut it wouldn’t have been a very different game.”

With Ozil and Sanchez back in contention for the Chelsea clash, the availability of the two former La Liga stars will give the Gunners manager more options while selecting his starting XI. The ex-Real Madrid midfielder already has 16 assists to his name in the league and his return will be a timely boost for Arsenal.

Sanchez’s return could likely force Joel Campbell to settle for a role on the bench. Against Chelsea, Wenger could start Olivier Giroud with Sanchez, Ozil and Theo Walcott playing behind the striker.

Chelsea settled for a 3-3 draw after John Terry’s late offside flick helped Guus Hiddink’s side avoid a defeat against Everton. Arsenal were only able to manage a draw in their last league game against Stoke, and as such both both clubs will be looking to bounce back with a win when they face each other on 24 January.

Vidic released by Inter Milan - should United sign him in January?

Vidic released by Inter Milan - should United sign him in January? - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic was officially released by Inter Milan on Monday.

The club issued a statement stating the decision was one of mutual consent.

Vidic told Inter’s official website: “Thanks to all the Nerazzurro family and to the Inter fans. I wish the club all the best for the future. Forza Inter!”

Vidic enjoyed a lengthy and successful career with Manchester United, before joining Inter in 2014.

During his later years at United, his contribution to the team was limited by recurrent injury problems, and the same continued in Italy as well.

The Serbian hasn’t played a single match this season after undergoing a hip surgery.

The 34-year-old has now entered the market as a free agent at a time when several top clubs are actively looking to bolster their defence.

Vidic, known for his tough tackling and ariel prowess, won five Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy with United between 2006 and 2014.

His performance gradually declined in his final years at Old Trafford, leading to his departure.

He joined Inter in the hope of prolonging his career in Serie A where the defenders are required to rely on experience and patient approach rather than robust athleticism.

Many United fans discussed the option on bringing Vidic, a fan favourite, back at Old Trafford on a short-term basis on social media.

At 34, Vidic still has a good amount of football left in him, provided he stays fit and regains his best form after the surgery.

He is still good enough for many Premier League clubs, but a move to United is highly unlikely.

The MLS is a likely destination for him provided he can stay fit, although the American league is more physical and the game faster than what most players exist, as Gerrard and Lampard have spoken about since moving from the Premier League to the US in recent years.

2015-2016 European Derby Combined XIs: Manchester, Madrid, and More

2015-2016 European Derby Combined XIs: Manchester, Madrid, and More

2015-2016 European Derby Combined XIs: Manchester, Madrid, and More - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

NOTE: Turkish, Greek, Portuguese, and other leagues outside the top five not included.

Regional dominance is always at stake when these teams meet, but who would feature in a combined starting lineup?

Manchester Derby (4 United, 7 City)

Defense: Chris Smalling has been one of the Premier League’s most reliable central defenders this season, and he’s partnered by Manchester City’s Vincent Kompany, who remains his team’s best center back despite recent purchases. With Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, and Antonio Valencia injured and Matteo Darmian hitting a bit of a rough patch, City’s two fullbacks also make it into the team.

Midfield: Yaya is the most talented of the bunch, but Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, and Herrera all have cases to join in him in the side. I went with the World Cup winner because I’ve yet to see Herrera and Schneiderlin impress enough to overtake him, but that may change soon. The wide attacking midfielders are definitely De Bruyne and Silva; in fact, their only real competition is teammate Raheem Sterling due to the lackluster form of Juan Mata and Memphis.

Attack: The striker duo is made up of Kun Aguero, one of the world’s top center forwards, and… Anthony Martial! Wayne Rooney may still be the main man at United but the Frenchman has been more exciting this season and will soon lead the line for the Red Devils. You also figure that Martial’s pace and ability to run in behind a defense would mesh well with Aguero’s craftiness.

Goalkeeper: Joe Hart is solid, but David de Gea has been at another level over the past two seasons. The Spaniard is one of the world’s best.

Madrid Derby (5 Atletico, 6 Real)

Defense: Marcelo’s attacking flair gives him a slight edge over the reliable Filipe Luis at left back, while the consistency of Juanfran puts him in over Dani Carvajal. Diego Godin is arguably the best center back in the world, while Sergio Ramos is the best on Real and edges Jose Gimenez on experience.

Midfield: Luka Modric is one of the smartest midfielders in Europe; he makes Real Madrid tick more than anyone. Koke gets in over Toni Kroos because he is a more complete player; a true box-to-box midfielder, Koke puts in hard challenges at one end and is exceedingly creative at the other. James plays in the hole in our combined XI; his ingenuity surpasses that of any other player who could fill the role.

Attack: Atletico don’t have star wingers so Bale and Ronaldo are easy inclusions, while I choose Antoine Griezmann to feature centrally because of his stunning goalscoring record for Los Colchoneros. He is also versatile, meaning he can drift out wide to allow one of those Los Blancos to make one of their usual darting runs to the inside.

Goalkeeper: Keylor Navas has been a revelation for Real Madrid since the failed De Gea transfer, but Jan Oblak is possibly the most underrated shot-stopper in the world. He’s allowed just 8 league goals this year, best among Europe’s top five leagues. The 23-year old Slovenian is only getting better and consistently makes top-quality saves for Atleti.

Revierderby (8 Dortmund, 3 Schalke)

Defense: Marcel Schmelzer remains a Dortmund mainstay and Matthias Ginter has played his way into Thomas Tuchel’s first-choice lineup. Hummels makes mistakes but he’s still a very good defender. Matip has stepped up and eclipsed captain Benedikt Howedes as Schalke’s top center half, boasting impressive aerial prowess and loads of pace.

Midfield: The Royal Blues’ Geis is partnered with Dortmund’s Gundogan at the base of this midfield triangle. Geis is typically unheralded, combining defensive solidity with tidy and creative passing. Gundogan is a box-to-box force known for brilliant forward balls (a la Michael Carrick) and well-timed runs into the box. The midfield will be spearheaded by Mkhitaryan, with the Armenian bagging 15 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

Attack: Reus is an obvious choice as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attackers. The 20-year old Sane, who scored a beauty in Schalke’s 4-3 win at the Bernabeu last season, has continued to dazzle this season. The lightning-quick Aubameyang just edges out the experienced Huntelaar with 27 goals in 27 games this season.

Goalkeeper: Burki, signed from Freiburg this summer, has replaced Weidenfeller in Dortmund’s goal, performing well for Tuchel’s side.

North London Derby (4 Tottenham, 7 Arsenal)

North London Derby Combined XI

Defense: Bellerin has taken his game to a new level this season while Nacho has simply outplayed Ben Davies. Koscielny remains a rock in the Gunners’ defense, and Alderweireld has slotted in seamlessly next to Jan Vertonghen, even outplaying his fellow countryman.

Midfield: Eric Dier has been a revelation, with the 22-year old converting surprisingly well to a holding midfield role. His passing has been tidy, his runs smart, and his marking tight. Cazorla would be his creative partner, with the Spaniard continuing to impress. Mesut Ozil is a no-brainer for the CAM spot with 16 league assists already.

Attack: Eriksen isn’t a natural winger but neither is Ramsey and Walcott/Oxlade-Chamberlain haven’t been too impressive. Lamela has improved for Spurs but the Dane is still their creative talisman. Alexis is Arsenal’s heart and soul, scoring and creating when fit enough to do so.

Goalkeeper: Tough one here, but Cech edges out Lloris thanks to a run of brilliant performances. These are the points John Terry was talking about.

Merseyside Derby (5 Everton, 6 Liverpool)

Merseyside Combined XI

Defense: Everton’s left back situation isn’t great, earning the improved Moreno a spot. Coleman edges out Clyne on the right due to consistency. John Stones is the clear-cut first-choice center back here while Skrtel is still Liverpool’s top man.

Midfield: Can has repaid Klopp’s faith and shown the potential that earned him a move to Anfield in the first place. Ross Barkley is one of Everton’s stars, with six goals and seven assists in the league. The wide midfielders include the creative Coutinho, a constant source of magical moments and frustrating ones too, and former Barcelona man Gerard Deulofeu; the Spaniard has 9 assists for the Toffees already.

Attack: Romelo Lukaku and his Premier League-leading 15 goals are preferred to the out-of-favor Christian Benteke. He is supported by second striker Roberto Firmino, whose well-taken brace against Arsenal showed his incredible potential.

Goalkeeper: Mignolet has been better than either of Everton’s keeper this season, even if the Kop would like to see Jack Butland at Anfield.

Rome Derby (8 Roma, 3 Lazio)

Rome Derby Combined XI

Defense: PSG loanee Lucas Digne has made the left back spot his own for the Giallorossi. Florenzi may be a natural midfielder but he’s deputised well at right back, scoring that Puskas nominee against Barca from that position. Lazio’s Mauricio has been a rock in an otherwise leaky defense, while Kostas Manolas regularly covers for his fellow center halves.

Midfield: The two deeper-lying midfielders are Daniele de Rossi and Lucas Biglia. De Rossi continues to be a force in the center of the park, breaking up counter-attacks and starting forward moves with aplomb. The Argentine Biglia is as tidy and clean as ever, minding his defensive duties diligently while helping transition quickly from defense to attack. The attacking midfield role is taken up by Miralem Pjanic, whose free kicks and threaded passes haven’t gone unnoticed by the likes of Madrid and Barcelona.

Attack: Last year’s front three for Lazio propelled them into a Champions League spot, but only Felipe Anderson has continued that form this year. Candreva has struggled and is edged by Salah, while summer signing Edin Dzeko surpasses the invisible Klose.

Goalkeeper: Szczesny the clear choice here. Stronger pedigree and has made numerous stunning saves despite looking shaky at times.

Milan Derby (7 Inter, 4 Milan)

Defense: Inter’s center halves, Murillo and former Atletico man Miranda, have been stalwarts this season, as the Nerazzurri have conceded a league-low 13 goals this season. Galatasaray loanee Alex Telles has impressed for Inter as well while AC Milan’s Ignazio Abate gets into our team over any of Inter’s options.

Midfield: Kondogbia is in the team over Medel due to being a more complete midfielder; while equally strong in defense, the Frenchman can shoot from distance, pick out passes more consistently, and provide a threat from set pieces. Milan mainstay Riccardo Montolivo partners him in the middle due to his positioning and versatility.

Attack: This South American strike duo would scare opposing defenses, with 17 goals between them in Serie A. Neither is particularly gifted with passing or pace but they are ruthless finishers and smart footballers. Bonaventura and Jovetic, both 26 years of age, have differing styles this season but are both gifted attackers. Jovetic is a scoring winger with silky skills while Bonaventura has showed his creativity and verstaility time and time again.

Goalkeeper: Handanovic is one of Europe’s top keepers and easily makes it in over Milan’s 16-year old Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Ronaldo says he and Messi have a 'good relationship'

Ronaldo says he and Messi have a 'good relationship' - originally posted on Soccerlens.com

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are arguably the two greatest footballers in modern football, and both share a fierce on-field rivalry.

Real Madrid’s Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Messi have been fighting for individual and team honours for the best part of a decade, most recently in the 2015 Ballon d’Or, which was won by the Argentine.

Both are supremely talented and have enthralled football fans all over the world with their mesmerising footballing skills and outstanding achievements for both club and country.

Despite their strong rivalry, Ronaldo insists that he and Messi enjoy a ‘good relationship’.

Ronaldo revealed after Real Madrid’s 5-1 win over Sporting Gijon on Sunday that he and Messi have grown closer over the years.

“We have become closer, we have always enjoyed a good relationship but perhaps in the last few years it has become a little closer,” Ronaldo told the reporters

Ronaldo’s son is reportedly a big fan of Messi. During the 2014 Ballon d’Or ceremony, Ronaldo was humble enough to take his son to the backstage for a short tete-a-tete with Messi.

Both the superstars have openly revealed their admirations for each other from time to time, with Ronaldo recently admitting he would love to have Messi’s magical left foot.

Ronaldo also joked that he expected compensation for the translation services he provided at last week’s Ballon d’Or ceremony in Zurich.

“When we were up there on the stage neither Messi nor Neymar speaks English, and I was their translator,” Ronaldo said. “I spoke with them later and told them not to forget to pay me later for the translation!”

The two rivals will face other once again on the football pitch in April, when Barcelona host Real Madrid at the Camp Nou in the clasico.
