The 2016 Rio Olympics medals table as it stands

Predictably, the US is running away with this one having garnered a total of 75 medals to top the table. While first place is not in dispute, the battle for second place rages on between Britain and China with 41 and 46 medals respectively. Britain tops China by virtue of having one more gold medal than the Asian country's 15.

Kenya is the highest ranked African country on the list with five medals, South Africa has seven
medal but only one gold compared to Kenya's two.

Estonia, Krygystan, Morocco, Portugal, Tunisia and the UAE all bring up the rear with one bronze medal each. Nigeria is yet to win a medal at the tournament and as such, doesn't make the list.
